Description : To demonstrate the independence of horizontal and vertical velocities. The apparatus consists of a wooden block 190 x 60 x 30 mm with side hole for storing balls closed by a metal disc cover. On this block is pivoted an ‘L’ section metal launching bar, attached by a spring to the screw fixed on wooden block, provided with a trigger catch. A small hole near each end of the bar serves to locate a 19 mm diameter steel ball. When the catch is released one ball drops vertically and the other is projected horizontally. Vertical velocities of both balls are the same at any instant, is shown by both balls hitting the floor at the same time. Supplied complete with a pair of steel balls.
