Four type of Microtomes available and used as per requirement. For simple and preliminary teaching for beginners are Hand microtomes, for freehand sections with a commonly used sectioning razor. Thinner the section more the precision required in feed drive. For precision and thin sections down to 1 micron required for detailed study and research by sophisticated, precise Rotary and Rocking type microtomes. Standard microtome razors or knives used in such models are of fine grain tool steel alloy, heat treated and tested for microstructures, with long life and perfect performance.
