Moving Coil

Moving coil type for d.c. use only, scale 85 mm long with knife edge pointer and anti-parallax mirror, reading 35-0- 35 mV. Sensitivity 200 µA per division, Coil resistance 10 ohms. Apparatus

Used to demonstrate now a current loop generates a magnetic field. Consist of a plastic ring of diameter 170 mm wrapped with 3 coils of copper wire; one coil with 2 turns, second with 50 and third with 500 turn, mounted on black moulded plastic platform rotating on a tripod base, supported by three levelling screws and fitted with four terminals.
